Full Text Reviews:

Booklist - 11/15/2016 Books in the I Want to Be series introduce occupations broadly and briefly. A typical page features a single photo, accompanied by a text box that includes a couple of sentences. Overall, the color photos are well chosen and offer diversity in those depicted. In the text, the approach varies from one volume to the next. One might survey the topic broadly, mentioning many specialties within the profession, while another looks more closely at a particular job. Scientist concentrates mainly on the question “What does a scientist do?” by briefly spotlighting specialists in one field of study after another, page by page: botanists, geologists, marine biologists, paleontologists, and, more broadly, archaeologists and “scientists who make robots.” The series offers books that may be useful to teachers introducing careers to young children, and certain volumes will fit right into Community Helpers units as well. - Copyright 2016 Booklist.
