School Library Journal - 04/01/2017 Gr 2–4—Clear, straightforward introductions provide novice researchers with basic information about various body systems. Numerous diagrams and photos complement explanations provided in the text. For example, a diagram of tendons, muscles, and bones in the knee is juxtaposed with a close-up photo of a soccer player's leg ready to kick the ball. Each volume includes a related activity, such as making a model of a ball-and-socket joint. Notes to parents and teachers in the front of each book provide guidance on helping readers identify nonfiction features.
