Summary:
It's stinky. It's noisy. It can be really funny. It's a fart! Most animals can fart, but some animals either don't or can't. While a fart might seem just like a stinky joke, farting and the ability to fart is an important part of an animal's complex digestive system! Through this gross out book's exploration of farts and farting, readers discover why animals fart.

Full Text Reviews:

School Library Journal - 11/01/2025 Gr 4–6—Along with the humor inherent in the subject matter, this series explores fascinating aspects of animal physiology. In The Snot That Animals Have Got, for example, readers learn how different creatures use mucus for hunting, defense, medicine, and communication. The lively text includes humorous word balloons for animals and lighthearted puns along with a wealth of scientific facts. A spread on the dung beetle, for example, describes exactly how they feed their young with poop, supported by a photo, a diagram, and cartoon illustrations. The spread on "poop extremes" is equal parts amusing and informative. Further fascinating content includes debunked myths, amusing anecdotes, and current technology, like the drones that help humans "gather whale snot." VERDICT These titles offer an excellent combination of grossness, fun, and animal science. - Copyright 2025 Publishers Weekly, Library Journal and/or School Library Journal used with permission.
