Booklist - 10/01/2021 Simple but consistent, this Big Feelings series (8 titles) entry hits home with its central message: being brave lets you do things, even if they feel scary. Lindeen runs through a variety of general scenarios: trying something new, doing things by yourself, asking questions, failing and trying again, and helping others. She validates but does not magnify readers' potential fears in each situation, emphasizing simple ways they can show courage. She also suggests various ways for readers to use their words and actions to encourage themselves and others to be brave. Stock photos of children provide suitable, if not exciting, illustration. A list of high-frequency and content words, as well as close reading and fluency activities, suggests that this book might be used in an educational setting for both SEL and reading practice. - Copyright 2021 Booklist.
