Booklist - 04/01/2025 Public spaces can be as delightfully varied as the many people who visit them, and all are invited to join an artful global tour of parks at the hand of author–illustrator Majewski. Urban parks, amusement parks, aquatic and memorial parks, carefully manicured and chaotic parks—readers get a bird's eye view of nearly two dozen real (and some imagined) sweeping landscapes that celebrate the extensive range of public spaces. The variety of featured terrain reminds readers that parks can include wild and remote spaces, but they’re also sometimes just little pockets of green space sitting right across the street. The limited text eschews punctuation (“Parks are big // Parks are small // Parks are quiet // Parks are loud”) and, on many spreads, allows the acrylic artwork to speak for itself through vibrant scenes that place a joyful emphasis on accessibility. Specific locales span several continents, and each park is identified with a descriptive paragraph in the back matter. “Across the world or down the street . . . / Parks welcome”, and this book can be your guide. - Copyright 2025 Booklist.
