Booklist - 11/15/2014 After adventuring in the Outskirts in Sky Raiders (2014), Cole Randolph is still stuck in the amazing, confusing world of the Five Kingdoms. Luckily, he is not alone—his friends Mira, Jace, Twitch, and Joe are along for the ride as they set out to rescue Mira’s sister from danger in the kingdom of Elloweer. The action starts immediately when the friends’ auto coach pulls them off course and into a fierce battle with two mysterious riders, and they have to continue on foot, with peril at every turn. There’s a new threat, the Rogue Knight, and whoever created or sent him is sure to be an even bigger danger. They fight for their lives, for the safety of the kingdoms, and in rebellion against the vile High Shaper in this action-packed adventure, and they discover new magic, too. Cole is a relatable and brave Everykid hero, and his friends bring different perspectives to this ongoing tale. Mull’s latest series continues to be excellent, and it should easily find a home among fans of middle-grade fantasy stories. HIGH-DEMAND BACKSTORY: The first entry in Five Kingdoms hit the New York Times best-seller list, and fans of the series opener will want to get their hands on this follow-up. - Copyright 2014 Booklist.
