School Library Journal - 02/14/2025 Gr 5 Up—In Mull's latest addition to the world of the Fablehaven, familiar faces Newel and Doran are maturing into more responsible satyrs. When the Satyr Games they're competing in ends in a tie, the duo must pull off the ultimate prank to beat out their competitors, Barrett and Hoff. While planning it, however, Newel and Doran discover some of their fellow satyrs have been turned to stone. When they inform Stan, they learn that Grumella has broken loose. To save Fablehaven, the two must head into the Fairy portal on an adventure to find the only one who knows how to stop Grumella, the Bog Hag. Will they find a way to save Fablehaven? The novel's plot is well-written and engaging. Newel and Doran are humorous, well-rounded, and believable, and their unique dynamic is strongly crafted. The worldbuilding is true to the original series and draws readers into the story. Although it's not necessary to have read the other books to enjoy this title, the details will make more sense if readers are familiar. VERDICT For fans of fantasy, adventure, and mythology, this is a must-read. Recommended for most library collections.—Kira Moody - Copyright 2025 Publishers Weekly, Library Journal and/or School Library Journal used with permission.
