School Library Journal - 12/01/2023 PreS-Gr 1—Raymond and Roxy are best friends. Raymond's cat, Flash, and Roxy's dog, Flo, are also best friends. Flash and Flo like to run and play together, but lately Flo is moving a bit slower. She has a good reason—she's going to have puppies. Raymond hopes he can have one of the puppies. He tells his mother he's not the only one who wants a puppy: Flash does, too. Raymond likes things fast, so waiting for the puppies to arrive is a little difficult for him. He learns patience while waiting. Finally, the puppies arrive. Raymond has already chosen one to take home, but will Flash get along with the little one? This sweet story for children focuses on the friendship between Raymond and Roxy and their pets. The repetition of sight words will help new readers gain confidence in their abilities.
