Booklist - 05/15/2020 Magdalys and Mapper are back in action with the Union army, fighting in the New Orleans area, when things suddenly get even more complicated as word comes that a new enemy of the republic stands ready to attack on the border with Mexico. In the midst of this additional trouble, Mags' attempt to understand more about her connection to the dinosaurs forces her to take a hard look at what motivates her to fight. Can she make sense of her own emotions in order to better work with her dino allies? Book three in the Dactyl Hill Squad is a tasty mix of battle, friendship, loyalty learned and tested, and a whole lot of 'saurs! Interspersed among the skirmishes, Older creates nifty moments with New Orleans’ first woman street vendor, and Yoda-like interactions between Mags and a fellow dino-whisperer. Despite being much of the same (good stuff), Older keeps it fresh with these new elements, and trustworthy by providing notes on the fact and fiction of his grand historical tale. - Copyright 2020 Booklist.
