Booklist - 03/15/2022 A little girl is asked to Pleeease, be quiet! by her busy mom, who types away on the computer and talks on the phone. As the girl grows quiet and stares out the window, she hears the trees breathing. Transported outdoors, she dances with trees and bears, visits a roaring dragon and the bright moon in the sky, and comes across pirates, mermaids, and whales. Finally, the girl returns from her journey. Each event builds toward the next, making this a fun story to share together and read aloud, but also one to enjoy in silence. The breathtaking illustrations, inspired by vintage printmaking, contain soft backgrounds with shades of beige and green among bright pinks and yellows. The magical scenes are a beautiful expression of imagination, sure to inspire young readers to visit fantastical worlds of their own creation. The poetic text contains repetition and short phrases that are full of action and detailed descriptions. A beautiful ode to imagination and the magic of silence. - Copyright 2022 Booklist.
