Booklist - 07/01/2025 Pippin the cat is a certified classic witch’s cat, happily tagging along with his witch owner as she throws a wonderful Halloween party for the town. But Pippin is melancholy: Is a witch’s cat all he can be? What if he wants to try new things? And so he embarks on a journey to know his true purpose. Pippin begins as a pirate’s cat, but seasickness gets the best of him. Next, he considers being a knight’s cat, but dragons sure are scary. Bouncing around from role to role, nothing seems to be a good fit for Pippin, who is having a Goldilocks experience with no resolution. Finally, he comes across a broom and realizes where he’s meant to be: right where he started! A nap in a pumpkin luckily lands him right back at home, bringing his lonely witch joy. Several full-page spreads elevate the details created in acrylic ink, and simple yet emotive faces capture the range of feelings in Pippin, his witch, and all they encounter. A cute, rhyming Halloween-themed journey of internal and external exploration. - Copyright 2025 Booklist.
