Booklist - 08/01/2025 Willow put up emotional walls after her father passed unexpectedly and doesn’t consider much beyond survival. Her only driving thought is keeping her father’s magical curiosity shop alive, but how can she do that when her father was a notorious sham and nothing in the shop is actually magic? Things come to a head when she discovers a newcomer, Brianna, who has the ability to bring magical objects to life. Willow isn’t sure what to do with her at first or whether Brianna’s a romantic rival for the boy Willow can’t admit she has feelings for, but she makes a deal with Brianna: enchant the objects in the shop, so long as Willow helps find the cure for the curse Brianna was born with. Although the plot weaves a little, the twists and turns will keep readers engaged and hoping for happy resolutions for the trio. Willow is highly relatable—flawed but wanting to be a better person—and easy to root for as she grows on her journey to save the shop and herself. - Copyright 2025 Booklist.
