Booklist - 09/15/2016 Lapis lazuli, the stone that enhances and increases magic in Tod’s world, is disappearing because the last Orm—a wormlike producer of the mineral—has died. There was an egg, but after a successful birth and a brief but frisky childhood, the Ormlet appears to have died as well. All will be lost for Tod and Septimus Heap if they cannot find a way to reenergize the lapis. In the meantime, enemies converge on the castle and on Tod, who must unravel old myths to save the day. This is the concluding volume in the TodHunter Moon trilogy, companion to the Septimus Heap series, and Sage has maintained the high quality of the writing as well as the endearing and entertaining reading experience throughout. An excellent choice as a read-aloud, this one could stand on its own, but is better for reading Todhunter Moon, Book One: PathFinder (2014) and TodHunter Moon, Book Two: SandRider (2015). Readers will miss this world and its characters, and will hope for Sage to book a return trip someday. - Copyright 2016 Booklist.
