Booklist - 02/01/2017 In their second tour as new cadets, the Bounders visit a new planet and uncover more secrets about Earth Force, Earth’s hybrid military-space agency. When Jasper’s cadet pod overhears conversations about Earth Force using cadets as soldiers and an upcoming summit, the pod has to figure out whom they can trust and just what Earth Force is hiding. This second volume in the Bounders series takes place on a remote planet, where pods take part in a game akin to futuristic geocaching, and Jasper’s crew learns about the existence of a new, dangerous technology. The setting makes for an interesting story, but not much is uncovered about Earth Force’s clandestine operations. The plot is a bit familiar and the ending will leave readers with many more questions than answers, hopefully to be resolved in the next installment. This series should be an additional purchase where science fiction for middle-grade readers is popular. - Copyright 2017 Booklist.
