School Library Journal - 04/17/2026 Gr 2–4—Yardi continues the "Coral Keepers" series in this third entry of the action-packed fantasy series for mermaid and shark lovers. Mermaid Princess Finn and her friends Moon and Link are training to become Coral Keepers to help protect their community. On this mission, they must search for an ancient emerald crown to help rebuild the coral wall that was damaged by the evil shark magician Rozaro. While they face pirates and terrible storms, they have the power of magic, friendship, and teamwork on their side. Marine animal and mermaid lovers will be excited by the real ocean details included in the plot. Younger readers may struggle a bit with a more complex plot and the intensity of the battle scenes. While an introduction includes some background about the characters and plot, this series works best when read in order. A map, character guide, and comprehension questions are included. Each page has grayscale illustrations by Kellam in an appealing and popular animation style. The multitude of illustrations will help practicing readers build their pacing and maintain interest. The mermaids are depicted with varied skin tones, hairstyles, and body types. VERDICT Sure to be a hit where this series is popular and for fans of chapter book fantasy series like Tracey West's "Dragon Masters" and Katrina Charman's "The Last Firehawk."—Taylor Skorski - Copyright 2026 Publishers Weekly, Library Journal and/or School Library Journal used with permission.
