School Library Journal - 09/16/2022 PreS-Gr 2—Yoon's popular character returns for another heartwarming story of friendship and kindness. In this new story, the titular seabird, sporting his signature orange scarf, discovers Penelope the elephant stuck in mud. Penguin immediately helps her, and the duo set off to find her lost herd. As the story progresses, their friendship grows stronger. The pair eventually reunite Penelope with her adoring family, with the elephant now wearing Penguin's scarf, a sign of their unbreakable bond. Yoon's masterful storytelling is on full display, with text that is both moving and rewarding in its themes of connection and kindness. Similarly, her digital illustrations feature expressive characters and colorful scenery with thick black outlines; one notable spread that transitions to an aerial view of Penguin and Penelope swimming together is particularly breathtaking. VERDICT The latest installment of Penguin's adventures will be a treasured addition to all collections.—Olivia Gorecke - Copyright 2022 Publishers Weekly, Library Journal and/or School Library Journal used with permission.
