4.7.08 The American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals has announced the 2007 ASPCA Henry Bergh Children's Book Awards for books dealing with animals and the environment. 3.4.08 Reed Elsevier, the giant Anglo-Dutch company, has put its Reed Business Information division up for sale. This division includes Publisher's Weekly, Library Journal and School Library Journal. No word yet on an asking price.

1.4.08 The Library of Congress' Center for the Book, in partnership with the Children's Book Council, has named children's author Jon Scieszka as the first National Ambassador for Young People's Literature. He will make appearances nationwide to promote reading for two years and have a budget of $50,000.
