Edward Ardizzone

Author Biography

   Edward Ardizzone was born October 16, 1900 in Haiphong, a city in what was then French Indochina and is now Vietnam.  He attended the Westminster School of Art.  His first job was as a clerk at his father's company, Eastern Telegraph.  The author and his wife, Catherine, had three children, Christianna, Philip, and Nicholas.
    Ardizzone is best known for his picture books.  In 1940, he was appointed Official War Artist by the British Government. He died November 8, 1979.
