Author Biography

   David Wisniewski was born March 21, 1953 in England and died September 11, 2002.  He was educated at the University of Maryland.  Wisniewski worked as a freelance actor, a mime and a propmaker.  He was also a clown for the Ringling Brothers Circus.  The author was married and had two children.
   Wisniewski is best known for his intricate cut-paper illustrated picture books.  "Golem" was the 1997 Caldecott Medal Winner and an ALA Notable Children's Book.
