Author Biography

     Michael Morpurgo was born on October 5, 1943 in St. Albans, England. He was educated at Kings Canterbury, Sandhurst & Kings College in London. Morpurgo taught for ten years in both state and private schools. The author is married with three children and six grandchildren. His hobbies include day dreaming, music, and writing. He and his wife founded "Farms for City Children," a charity that enables city children to come to share his passion for the countryside and animals. 
     Best known for writing short stories for children and novels for adults, Morpurgo has published over ninety-five titles. He has also written screenplays. "Kensuke's Kingdom" was an ALA Notable Children's Book in 2004.
