Author Biography

    Raymond Bial was born in Danville, Illinois on November 5, 1948.  He received his undergraduate and MLS degrees from the University of Illinois.  Bial recently retired from his position as a librarian at Parkland College in Champaign, Illinois.  The author and his wife, Linda, a librarian, have three children,  Anna, Sarah, and Luke.  His hobbies include fishing, hiking and gardening. He also enjoys author visits. 
    Bial is best known for his photographic nonfiction books, although he has done adult histories and photo coffee table books as well. "Corn Belt Harvest" was a 1991 Outstanding Science Trade Book.  "Amish Home" was an ALA Notable Children's Book in 1994 and a Parent's Choice Award Book in 1995. "Tenement" was a 2003 Orbis Pictus Honor Book.
