Author Biography

   Brian Pinkney was born August 28, 1961. His father was an illustrator and his mother was a writer. He received a bachelors and masters degrees in art from the School of Visual Arts.  He and his wife Andrea Davis Pinkney, also a writer of children's books, have a son and a daughter.
   He is best known for his picture books.  "Faithful Friend" was a Caldecott Honor Book and a Coretta Scott King Honor Book.
