Author Biography

    Bruce McMillan was born May 10, 1947 in Boston, Massachusetts.  He graduated from the University of Maine at Orono in 1969.  McMillan has been a director, photographer and producer at Maine Public Broadcasting.  He has taught creative writing at several universities.  The author has one son, Brett Browning.
    McMillan is best known for using his photographs to illustrate nonfiction books.  "The Remarkable Riderless Runaway Tricycle" was adapted into a film in 1982. "Here a Chick, There a Chick" was an ALA Notable Book in 1983, as was "Counting Wildflowers" in 1986.  "One Sun" was an Outstanding Science Trade Book.
