Author Biography

     E. L. Konigsburg was born February 10, 1930 in New York City. Ms. Konigsburg died April 19, 2013. She received a Bachelor's Degree in Chemistry from Carnegie Mellon University. Konigsburg worked as a science and biology teacher. Her hobbies included drawing, painting, walking on the beach and reading.
     In 1968, Konigsburg was the first author to ever receive both a Newbery Medal and a Newbery Honor in the same year for "From the Mixed-Up Files of Mrs. Basil E. Frankweiler" and "Jennifer, Hecate, MacBeth, William McKinley, and Me, Elizabeth." She received the Newbery Medal again in 1997 for "The View from Saturday" which was also an ALA Notable Children's Book.
