Author Biography

     Will Hobbs was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania on August 22, 1947.  He received both a Bachelor's and a Master's Degree from Stanford University.  Hobbs has worked as a reading teacher.  The author and his wife, Jean, enjoy backpacking, rafting and fishing.
     Hobbs is best known for his adventure novels set in the outdoors.  "Ghost Canoe" won the 1998 Edgar Allan Poe Award.  "Bearstone," "Downriver," "Big Wander," and "Beardance" were ALA Best Books for Young Adults.  "Bearstone" and "Changes in Latitudes" were Notable Social Studies Trade Books.
