Author Biography

    David Wiesner was born in Bridgewater, New Jersey on February 5, 1956.  He graduated from the Rhode Island School of Design, where he was a student of David Macaulay's.  The author is married to Kim Kahng, a surgeon, and they have two children.
    Wiesner is best known for his picture books.  "Free Fall" was a 1989 Caldecott Honor Book and an ALA Notable Book of the Year.  "Tuesday" was the 1992 Caldecott Winner, an ALA Notable Book of the Year and a SLJ Best Book. "June 29, 1999" was an ALA Notable Book of the Year and a SLJ Best Book.  "Night of the Gargoyles" was a SLJ Best Book.  "Sector 7" was a 2000 Caldecott Honor Book, an ALA Notable Children's Book and a SLJ Best Book.  "Hurricane" was a SLJ Best Book.  "The Three Pigs" was the 2002 Caldecott Winner and an ALA Notable Children's Book.
