She attended UCLA studying political science before being accepted into the Art Center College of Design at Pasadena. She worked in the layout department of DreamWorks before illustrating children's books full time. LeUyen can count to ten in five languages, has seen the Pope in person three times, visited five of the seven continents, ridden an elephant and swam with dolphins. She is good at pitting cherries, baking tarts, building websites, drawing monkeys, eating sushi, changing diapers in the dark, and making Christmas cookies.
